So you want to join?
Excellent! Joining is easy. All you need to do is send an e-mail to our president,
Andrew Hill. From there, you will be added to the UA Society for
Physics Students listserv and you will start receiving up to date information on club meetings, events,
and what in general is going on in the UA SPS Club.
What do you do now?
Well, to start, ATTEND MEETINGS! For more information on meeting times and places go here.
Meetings are how we get things done in the SPS Club. We organize events, and sometimes there is a real cool talk on
some real cool physics thingy. And just to bribe you, sometimes we also get food!
Anything else?
YES! Join the National Society for Physics Students Organization by going to
this website. This is more for you than us. There is a small fee of 20 dollars, but this gives you a years
subscription to Physics Today. More excitingly, this also gives you a student membership to the professional
society of your choice: The American Physical Society, Optical Society of America, Acoustical Society of America,
The Society of Rheology, American Association of Physics Teachers, American Crystallographic Association, American
Astronomical Society, American Association of Physics in Medicine, AVS Science and Technology Society, and the
American Geophysical Union. Many of these societies offer memberships to everyone else for dues in the hundreds
of dollars.
