The C Programming Language by Kernighan & Ritchie (2nd edition); an excellent introductory book to programming in C.
Numerical Recipes in C by Press, Teukolsky, Vettering, & Flannery (2nd edition); the standard reference in the field. Even though it goes beyond the scope of this course, it offers in depth discussions for all the topics that will be covered. A free, online version of the book is also available here.
