His books:

Part of the material is covered in several textbooks. My favorites are ``Gauge Fields and Strings '' by Polyakov (Harwood), ``Superstring theory'' by Green, Schwartz and Witten (CUP) and Polchinski''String Theory'' (CUP) in 2 volumes (see [Joe's Big Book of String ] These books will be used during the course. There are also many excellent reviews available on the net (but do not print all of them ! You may not need all of them, so save time, energy and forests !) Some of them are here (the list is not complete by all means, but my time is , unfortunately, limited):

For general introduction into perturbative string theory and D-branes:

For T-duality

For 2d gravity and c=1 strings

For p-branes, black branes, string solitons and string black holes

More about different aspects of D-branes (BPS and Non-BPS, gauge fields, D-branes quantum numbers and K-theory)

For String Dualities and M-theory

For Matrix Strings, M(atrix) Theory and the Light Cone

For AdS/CFT correspondence

For Cosmology
