The Black Hills of South Dakota

Mountain Goat
We start with a photo of my favorite creature on the planet. This was taken at Custer State Park.

Tight Fit
This is also at Custer State Park. It is pretty rough going for some of these buses. At times they lower their shocks so they don't scrape the top of the tunnel. When I first reached this tunnel I had to follow (at about 1 mph) a mountain goat through it.

Wind Cave Prairie "1"
This was taken at Wind Cave National Park. The nutritious reddish soil is used as a mineral lick by the resident bisons.

Wind Cave Prairie "2"
This was also taken at Wind Cave National Park in the early morning.

Salsify
This was taken at Wind Cave National Park under natural light. It is a flower known as a salsify. I was afraid this might be blurry since it was slightly windy, so I took another photo below.

"Salsify"
This is the same flower taken with a flash. If anyone can explain the "color" of the flower please email me.

Mount Rushmore
Although I tend to stay away from tourist traps, the trip to beautiful Mount Rushmore National Memorial was worth it.

Roadside Waterfall
This was taken along the Spearfish Canyon National Scenic Byway.
