Montana and Glacier National Park - Set 2

This is Bullhead Lake which lies along the trail to Swiftcurrent Pass in Glacier National Park.

This is a view from redrock falls which is also along the same trail.

This is Piegan Mountain (I think) along the Siyeh Pass Trail in Glacier National Park.

Here is the view of the valley that you get at Siyeh Pass itself. Believe it or not there is a herd of antelope in the right side of the valley below.

This is the view of Baring Creek along the same trail. This creek is formed from the snow melting at the top of the mountains. Much of the second half of the trail runs along the creek.

This is another view from the same trail. This is sexton glacier which lies between Matahpi Peak and Going-to-the-Sun Mountain. The glacier extends about a fifth of a mile from the cliff to the terminus and the piles of "dirt" at the lower right are the terminal moraine.

Here is a detail photo of a rock covered with many varieties of lichen. Most of you will find this uninteresting but oh well.. It is also along the Siyeh Pass Trail.

Here is a another detail photo of a rock. I couldn't tell you what the features are (anyone have an idea?) but they are interesting. This is also along the same trail.

Another photo from the trail. This shows how the alpine flowers literally grow everywhere.

This is the kind of blue sky you get when you shoot 90 degrees from the sun, at 45 degrees to the horizon and take full advantage of the polarizer. Additionally, I doubt I have ever seen as natural a blue sky as I did at this time. Note the many flowers in the image and the beargrass towards the back. This is also along the Siyeh Pass Trail.

This is Sunrift Gorge which is carved by Baring Creek. It lies at the end of the trail very close to Going-to-the-Sun Road. This is most likely my favorite photo of my entire summer 1996 vacation.

This was the closest I got to any bears on the trip (although I saw many from large distances). Personally, I think he was more than close enough.

This is Chief Mountain which lies on the boundary between Glacier National Park and the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. It is considered sacred among the Blackfeet Indians.
