Southern West Virginia Photos

This is a typical forest scene at Beartown State Park. This is a wonderful area filled with enormous boulders. It is protected and you can pass through the area only on a boardwalk.

This is a detail of one of the large boulders at Beartown State Park.

This is mountain laurel (which happens to be the Pennsylvania State Flower) at Watoga State Park.

Here is some more mountain laurel at Watoga State Park.

This is the finished version of the Green Bank Telescope (GBT) which is at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank, West Virginia.

This image has a number of sundews (yes, the carnivorous plants) at the Cranberry Glades in West Virginia's high country. The sundews are not easy to see in the image. One is in the direction of the prominent 3-leafed plant that sits at about 1:30 relative to the center of the image.

These are two trees (or one tree?) in the Cranberry Glades. One is a birch and I can't remember what the other one is. However, they appear to be joined together. Is this possible?
