This is HW 1 problem set , due on Friday August 31 2007 of the
PHY161H class for Fall 2007 Lecturer: J. Rafelski.
RECALL: you are expected to do these problems and have a clean write up, but
there is no hand-in, instead there will be a 12 min quiz valued at 2%, testing
your knowledge of one of the problems from this home work. . However, I may check your collection of
problems should I need more information about your work.
Note: it is not enough to know the answers, understanding the problem and knowing
the path to the solution is more important. Problems are meant to be done in sequence set.
All problems stated by number are from your class text book.
