Scripps Institute of Oceanography as well as UCLA's Atmospheric (and
Oceanic) Sciences  are actively seeking exceptionally
talented undergraduate physics, mathematics and engineering students to
apply to their graduate programs. NO BACKGROUND in geosciences is
required. 

These two institutions belong in the handful  of the most 
important schools in these disciplines. They are particularly interested
in people with the above mentioned backgrounds, since they want to 
recruit  in more theoretically and computationally-oriented 
geosciences (rather than observational).
