WHAT AM I DOING THIS SUMMER?
I decided to use the NSF Summer Bridge Program to work with the University of Arizona Student Satellite Project. The group is divided into several groups which serve different tasks. I am a member of the Guidance Navigation and Control team (GNC) which is responsble for controlling the attitude of spacecraft. Please feel free to visit the two pages above.
Specifically, I've been working on designing the satellite's torque rods which will be responsible for dumping the momentum that is built up within the reaction wheels. I have written a technote, GNC-014, which is on the GNC webpage. To veiw it, go to Guidance Navigation and Control and click on "Proposals and Design Documents" and then "GNC-014.pdf". I have also designed an Excel spreadsheet to help me design torque rods.
