WEEKLY
UPDATE!!!!!!
Ok,
first of all I would like to apologize for my not posting a weekly
update last week. I am combining the last two weeks due to excessive
business.
WEEKS 5 and 6
Work
Done on Project: Whew, boy
do I have a lot to tell you this time. After Dr. Ortega got back from
his trip he really helped me to get things rolling. I painted the
apparatus and got the cube and the zone box pretty as well. Also, I
worked out the cooling system and connected the tubing so that we could
use one of the labs water circulators.
The
circulator is in the bottom right and has all of the hoses coming out
of it. The silver coffee can shaped container to the left is the ice
bath, and the caution tape is so no one trips over the panel cable that
connect the thermal couples to the 3497 data aquisitioner. This week I
tested the cooling system and the rest of the equipment and finally
took the data. Whew!
Projected Future
Difficulties: Now all I
have to do is write my paper, put together my final presentation,
completely finish my web site, clean up the lab and leave a detailed
explanation of everything for the student who will take over the
project to finish the renshape board. That is a lot to put into one
week. So my future difficulties will include time management.
New Science Learned: I'm really now putting together all of
the knowledge and skills that I have acquired up to this point. I'm
hoping to make the web site into a detailed reflection of everything
that I've learned. So stay tuned.
New Contacts Gained: Well, I have made a lot of contacts
this summer. Some you've seen, some you haven't, but all of them were
very nice, helpful and all around great people.
